Client Testimonials

Freeman Safaris has always put clients at the heart of the safari experience. For over 25 years we have been delivering great service and are the only 5 star rated Tripadvisor safari operator in the Masai Mara. See what our clients have to say about us.

My 17th safari with you and I thought I had seen everything, however your wonderful drivers still managed to find something new. We found an aardwolf and what with all the very small leopard, cheetah, lion cubs, a couple of lion kills, some wonderful elephants with lots of playful calfs, a Tommy birth, male Tommies fighting, several jackal pups, a serval and many crossings I think they excelled themselves. The Mara seems to get better and better. I can hardly wait for the 18th safari.

We are both really missing getting up every morning to go out for the amazing sights in Masai Mara. I have just now started downloading my photos on my laptop, so this will be the time to take it all in slowly and relive all the wonders of Kenya. Thank you for taking such good care of us. I really hope that we can be return guests one of these days and bring some of our friends with us the next time.

Thanks for a magical experience. The attention to detail from your team is what makes it special. The camp is run very efficiently, but without appearing so! It feels informal and friendly, very relaxed. Everyone is friendly and good at what they do. The hospitality is exceptional, the food outstanding and the G & T’s out of this world. We had a terrific time. Your team knew just where to position the Land Rover to get the best views and shots. We have no hesitation in recommending Freeman Safaris to friends and family alike.

Freeman Safaris are the complete antidote to the so-called “safaris” offered by the package companies. Freeman Safaris are ideal for keen and experienced photographers, thanks to the combination of the carefully designed Land Rovers, the patience of the drivers and Brian’s own knowledge. For us, celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary along with our teenage son and wanting something special that would give us memories for a lifetime, with the top objective of being to find and observe game for as long as we wanted, the approach and ethos of Freeman Safaris was simply perfect. We would wholeheartedly recommend them for all who seek a quality experience in the Mara.

Photographers Paradise”
Being a keen photographer and having been with other companies I can say nothing compares to a Freeman Safaris. The vehicles have been adapted to make photography an easy task with excellent visibility. In camp you are well catered for. Equipped with plumbed toilet facilities, hot showers, very comfortable beds and a power supply to enable recharging of ones equipment.

The food is great with the evening main course being freshly cooked in front of the guests. The first course soup is everyone’s favourite. Tea, coffee and drinking water is available at all times.Your dirty washing is left in the morning and on return, late afternoon cleaned and ironed by Francis. The camp being situated on the banks of the river Olare Orok is in an ideal central position to enable you to get to the animal action anywhere in the Mara quickly.

All the driver/guides are experienced and able to get there occupants to the best photographic positions without invading the animals space.
This was my 15th safari with Brian and his staff. Every trip has been an adventure and different. I have been fortunate in seeing many lion, leopards and cheetah families grow up and look forward to meeting up again with them in 2020.

Masai Mara Safari- The real deal!
My Wife and I have just back to a wet and windy England after a kaleidoscope of wildlife encounters in the vast, ever changing wilderness of the Masai Mara National Park in Kenya. We have witnessed the frantic crossing of the Mara River by thousands upon thousands of Wildebeest and Zebras in a haze of dust and mud at very close quarters for more than an hour. We have seen a Coalition of 5 male Cheetahs hunt and kill a Zebra, and then be seen off the remnants off the kill by a Spotted Hyaena, followed by an immediate influx of Lappet-faced, White-headed and Hooded Vultures on to the last pickings.

We have been charmed by the interactions between large Prides of Lions with their playful cubs, and in awe of their co-operative hunts of Wildebeest. On one occasion we even saw an unsuccessful attempt by one Lioness to down a surprisingly sprightly Hippopotamus [ but hey, wouldn’t you be a bit sprightly in those circumstances? The wildlife encounters were seemingly every day and seemingly endless, from the half light of dawn and deep red of dusk after sundown.

We were privileged to see Leopards [ plus Cubs and a variety of kills ], Male Lions with looks that could kill, Black Rhinos [ one with a very small Calf ], “Don’t mess with us” Cape Buffalo, hunting Serval, slow-mo fighting Masai Giraffe, herds of African Elephants, one with a delightfully uncoordinated young “Dumbo”.

All these dramatic experiences set in the vastness and sparseness of the awesome Masai Mara. Really too many top draw close encounters every day to list without appearing to be too fulsome [Oh well - if the cap fits, wear it!, that’s what I say].

All this made accessible by Freeman Safaris with its discreet Camp in the Bush.
Without exception, everything about the Camp and Safaris was professional and well judged. The Staff were so friendly and caring. The food [ all imported fresh from Nairobi] was varied and delicious, and of very high quality. The specially adapted Land Rovers we used mastered everything that the Mara, and its rutted tracks and river crossings threw at them constantly, and we able to reach places that other vehicles simply could not get to.The Drivers and Guides were masters of what in England would be classed as very scary off roading. Their knowledge of the terrain and its wildlife was impressive, not least in anticipating what would happen next and where we should be positioned to see and photograph the next phase of an evolving wildlife encounter. We had total confidence in their driving skills and understanding of the photographic importance of backgrounds and the positioning of the sun.

It was a privilege to be driven and guided by an impressive young Masai in red Masai outfit with full ornamentation and Masai machete. And every evening we sat by the camp fire before Dinner and chat with Brian Freeman and the other Guests about the experiences of the day, before adjourning to a very big table to continue the chat and laughter over a well judged and beautifully cooked meal.
Brian Freeman oversees every detail of the Camp and everyones’ Safaris. By heck, this personal attention to the fine detail of the Freeman Safaris experience shows!

What more could anyone with a love of wildlife and the the great out doors wish for?
Top marks to all the Staff.
Top marks to Freeman Safaris.
Top marks to the Masai Mara.

Sitting in a river bed with a herd of elephants all around us. So close, so cool. A male cheetah walks past our vehicle, climbs on a mound less than a meter away, in direct eyeline with ME (having trouble being still and quiet). A leopard lies on a mound and then a tiny cub appears and entertains us for about 20 minutes.

Lion cubs, Ground Hornbill (my favourites) Gazelle, Giraffe, Birds galore and so so more. A dream, Oh No, we are watching our video from our Masai Mara Safari with Brian Freeman in July 2019. Everyday different, but in camp the same. Brian’s in camp crew work like a well oiled machine. Nothing too much trouble, all problems solved (if any). His Chef on top form as always, food fantastic.

The Game Drives, well, have you read the above? Our driver and guide (Andrew) didn’t miss a trick (he even found the Dung Beetle on my wish list). All in all our fourth great safari with Brian, hope to be going back soon.

We have travelled extensively for the past 25years on photographic trips, including India, Namibia, Costa Rica, Samburu, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Africa, Flordia, and the Gambia, to name a few, we have experienced a variety of camps,

In 2016 we were told of Brian Freeman,s safaris, so decided to try it, so pleased we did, in our oplnion, it is one of the best camps in the Mara, As phoptographers, we could not wish for anything better, more wildlife than we have ever seen, including, Lions, Cheetah, Elephants, Leopards, Jackals, Hyena, could go on and on,GREAT,

You can stay in the park from Dawn to Dusk if you wish, as there is always some action to be photographed, and lunch is included. Brian and his wonderful team are outstanding, nothing is too much trouble, the accommodation and meals are first class, the guides are all very experienced and always try to get you in the best position for the photograph,

We have been back 4 times already, and cannot wait to return in September, Brian’s
safaris are fantastic and would recommend it 100%,

Thank you, Brian.
