Mountain Gorilla Safaris

Thursday, September 17, 2009

A recent addition to the safaris run by us here at Freeman Safaris is the fantastic mountain gorilla safari in RWanda. This is run as an extension to some of the other safaris; for more details please check the Availabilities page. As an endangered species, the opportunity to see mountain gorillas in their natural habitat are few and far between. For a break down of the full/expected itinerary please visit the Gorilla Safaris page.

The mountain gorilla is able to live in both hot and cold weather thanks to its long, dark hair; hair which allows survival in areas where the temperature can drop below freezing. More than any other non-human primate the mountain gorilla spends the majority of its time on the ground and on average it is the largest of all gorillas. As you will read from the gorilla safari page we spend either one or two days (depending on how many days you want to extend your safari by) tracking the gorillas through the mountain forests on the slopes of Parc National des Volcans, and the fourth and final day taking a tour of the market, handicraft shops and Genocide Memorial of Kigali city.

For more information on the mountain gorilla safaris and indeed all the kenya safaris we operate please take the time to look through our website and don't hesitate to contact us with any queries.

"For a truly memorable and lifetime Kenyan safari experience, we whole heartedly recommend Brian Freeman and his team without any reservation whatsoever. Personal care afforded was absolute and, photographically, we were presented with unimaginable closeup views of wildlife and village life that will stay with us forever. The holiday exceeded all our expectations, a holiday we will repeat."
